English non-league club Basingstoke Town have claimed that they have made an offer to sign Brazilian legend Ronaldinho, who is currently without a club and available on a free transfer.
The ambitious Conference South side, who are currently sponsored by Sky programme Soccer AM, said that they have made contact with the 34-year-old former Barcelona man’s brother and agent Roberto de Assis.
“Discussions have been had, and there is an offer on the table. Now it is up to Ronaldinho to decide whether he wants to take us up on it,” said Dragons’ marketing director Simon Hood.
“He is on a free transfer and if he wants to get into English football, I cannot think of a better way to do that than by signing for Basingstoke Town.”
Ronaldinho has also been linked with a move to Premier League club Stoke City earlier this summer.
