Angel di Maria is rated one of the world’s top three football players by his teammate in defensive-midfield, Lucas Biglia.
Wednesday’s friendly between Germany and Argentina was a repeat of the World Cup final this summer in Brazil, where La Albiceleste lost 1-0 in extra time.
The friendly yesterday in Duesseldorf saw Argentine thrash the Germans 4-2, with newly-signed Manchester United speedster di Maria bagging a goal and three assists, making him involved in all of Argentina’s goals last night.
“Di Maria is not amongst the 15 best players in the world” said Biglia.
“He is amongst the best three.”
“Leo [Messi] is from another planet”.
“After him come Fideo [Angel di Maria’s nickname] with Cristiano Ronaldo.”
Despite Argentina’s superstar Lionel Messi missing out on last night’s clash, the South Americans were leading by 4 goals at one point, only for them to concede two goals on the 52nd and 78th minutes.
The friendly was new Argentina boss Gerardo Martino’s first match in charge of them, and he was Barcelona’s former coach as well.
He was the successor of Alejandro Sabella, following his departure after the World Cup this summer.
