Arsenal host reigning champions Manchester City in the Matchday 4 opener in this season’s English Premier League, and the Gunners’ deadline day star buy Danny Welbeck will look to feature in his arsenal debut.
Predicted Lineups and Team News
With a 4-1-4-1 looking to be deployed, Arsenal are likely to play their first choice goalkeeper, Polish international Wojciech Szczesny, between the sticks, with the usual backline of Kieran Gibbs, Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Mathieu Debuchy.
Mikel Arteta will control the middle of the park, while central attacking midfielders Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere in front of the Spaniard, while Santi Cazorla and summer signing from Barcelona, Alexis Sanchez, are at the wings.
And the lone-man striker will probably be Danny Welbeck, as he replaces Yaya Sanogo upfront, with Olivier Giroud still out injured.
And that could mean that Welbeck may be given the chance to improve on Arsenal’s recent form of a 1-1 away draw with Leicester City as well.
While Serge Gnabry, Giroud and Theo Walcott are all out injured, Aaron Ramsey may likely be sidelined for this match after picking up an ankle injury while on international duty.
Despite being told by manager Manuel Pellegrini that his regular spot in goal will be rotated with fellow goalkeeper Willy Caballero, Joe Hart still looks likely to start this one, with cover coming from Aleksandar Kolarov, Vincent Kompany, Martin Demichelis and summer signing Bacary Sagna.
As a 4-4-2 formation is probable for the visitors, those four midfielders will consist of Fernandinho and Yaya Toure in central spots, will David Silva and Samir Nasri go wide.
Strikeforce for City w\may be coming from a strikers’ partnership of Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko upfront, as they look to do better after losing 1-0 to Stoke City at home in their previous game.
Fernando, who picked up an injury in the surprise 1-0 defeat to Stoke City, is along with Stefan Jovetic on the injury list, will Pablo Zabaleta is in doubt for the trip to the Emirates Stadium.
