Bayer Leverkusen 3-3 Werder Bremen – 19:30

A six-goal thriller was seen as the opener of Matchday 3 in the German Bundesliga this season, with goals from 18-year-old full-back Tin Jedvaj, Hakan Calhanoglu and Heung-Min Son for the home side met by strikes from Fin Bartels at half-time, Franco di Santo on the hour mark, and centre-back Sebastian Prodl scoring a late equaliser on the 85th minute, securing a point for the visitors. Bayern Munich 2-0 VfB Stuttgart – 14:30

Mario Gotze and Frank Ribery, who was returning from injury, scored the goals that won the game, one in each half, as they dominated their home game against VfB Stuttgart win 67% possession and 14 shots, 8 of them being on target. TFW Man of the Match: Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich)

Borussia Dortmund 3-1 Freiburg – 14:30

Summer signings Adrian Ramos and Shinji Kagawa, who was enjoying his second spell at the club, bagged goals in the first half for the hosts Borussia Dortmund, Kagawa’s late first-period goal being his first since he moved back from Manchester United. Substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then struck in the second half before Freiburg’s right-back Oliver Sorg scoring a late 90th minute consolation goal. Hoffenheim 1-1 Wolfsburg – 14:30

A highly entertaining and tense second half was played, as the hosts’ took the lead on the 55th minute through Anthony Modeste, before Wolfsburg attacked with some fire, with a statistic at the end of the match confirming that the visitors fired 22 shots in total, as Ivica Olic struck home a late equaliser on the 89th minute, before they had one of their substitutes sent off due to a second yellow card. Hertha Berlin 1-3 Mainz 05 – 14:30

A first-half strike from Shinji Okazaki for the visitors Main 05 was followed by a goal from teammate Sami Allagui, before Ronny scored an 86th minute penalty. It looked as a consolation goal at the end, as Okazaki got his second strike on the 1st minute of second half stoppage time. TFW Man of the Match: Junior Diaz (Mainz 05)

Paderborn 0-0 FC Cologne – 14:30

Neither team could break the deadlock as 12 shots were seen in total from both sides combined, 5 of them being on target. The visitors had the better possession with 55%, and with the better passing accuracy as well, at 80%, while Paderborn had more shots. TFW Man of the Match: Jonas Hector (FC Cologne)

Borussia Moenchengladbach 4-1 Schalke 04 – 17:30

A brace from Andre Hahn, added by goals from Max Kruse and Raffael for the home side saw Eric Choupo-Moting’s 52nd penalty goal as a consolation one, although Schalke had better passing success, and possession, they were on the wrong end of the biggest win in Matchday 3 of the German Bundesliga this season, by a three goal margin. Eintracht Frankfurt 0-1 Augsburg – 14:30

The visitor’s Raul Bobadilla secured the three points for Augsburg as he struck home early into the second half, on the 49th minute. Tobias Werner had hit the woodwork twice as he came close to scoring for the visiting team, in a game which was dominated by Eintracht Frankfurt in possession, with them having 59% of it, but were still on the wrong side of Augsburg’s away victory, which was their first win of the new season in the German Bundesliga. Hannover 96 2-0 Hamburger SV – 16:30

The last game of Matchday 3 in the new season of the German Bundesliga was won by Hannover 96, as they beat a bottom-table placed Hamburger SV side. First-half goals from Leon Andreasen and Artur Sobiech for the home side was enough to see the visitors on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline, as they are still in search of their first win of the season, currently having just one point out of three games played so far.
