Valencia have reportedly demanded a £20 million for midfielder Dani Parejo, whom Liverpool are interested in.
With the Merseysiders strongly liked with his signature throughout the summer, Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers sent his scouts to watch the 25-year-old in action and was keen on a transfer, but he was unwilling to match the midfielder’s buy-out clause.
The Spain under-21 international was keen to play Champions’ League football and was set to double his wages with the English Premier League outfit, but Valencia refused to reduce the clause.
The Spanish La Liga team are now trying to tie Parejo up to a new deal which would last until the 2016 season, but it may prove difficult to persuade him with his head being turned.
And if he is still set to move elsewhere, Valencia remain determined that Liverpool, or any other club interested in him, will have to pay a full £20 million to bring over one of their key members.
