Chelsea manager has confirmed that star striker Diego Costa will start in Sunday’s English Premier League clash with title rivals Manchester City.
The Portuguese boss opted for Costa on the bench in the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Schalke in the UEFA Champions’ League on Wednesday.
Mourinho is trying to protect Chelsea’s prize asset from a recurrence of a hamstring injury which continually casts doubts over his fitness.
“Diego isn’t in the best of conditions but he will start the game,” Mourinho said.
“The player is fantastic and has an amazing attitude to try and play for the team.”
With seven goals in just four EPL matches in the new season so far for the West-London side, Mourinho has said that until he is fully match fit, he will play just once a week.
“We have to try and protect him until he is completely fit.”
“He plays this game, so he can’t play against Bolton.”
