Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has revealed he is not interested in a move to Manchester United and is happy to remain with the German Bundesliga giants, according to reports.
The German FIFA World Cup winner this summer is currently one of the best centre-backs in football, and insists he will not be tempted by a move to a big like Manchester United or Barcelona, and will instead look to emulate legends like Paolo Maldini and Steven Gerrard by having a successful career without moving clubs.
”It’s nice to hear that big clubs like that are interested in you,” Hummels said.
“I take that as a compliment. But it doesn’t influence me in any way, otherwise. We earn enough here in Dortmund.”
”There are some [who stay at one club for their whole careers], and they are all really great players. Paolo Maldini of Milan, for example.”
Hummels was one of United manager Louis van Gaal’s main transfer targets this summer, with the Red Devils boss looking to add some oil onto a creaky backline, but unfortunately for the Dutch manager, he will have to look elsewhere for a new central defender.
