Liverpool are set to make a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Ezequiel Lavezzi after failing to sign Edison Cavani from the French giants as the Reds’ new boys Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli have so far failed to fill the boots of the departed Luis Suarez and the injured Daniel Sturridge.

Paris Saint-Germain have, however, blocked any move for the former Napoli striker Cavani, insisting that he will remain in Paris throughout the next transfer window – and that means Reds boss Brendan Rodgers now turn his sights to his secondary target.

Lavezzi, who was Cavani’s teammate at Napoli and currently at Parc de Princes, he could be set for a move to Anfield after having being tracked by Brendan Rodgers all summer, and his current club are oppen to offloading the Argentinian, so Liverpool may make a move for him in January, but will have to face competition from Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid and Italian Serie A outfit Inter.

And if the Merseysiders fail to land Lavezzi, they could still recall young striker Divock Origi from PSG’s fellow French Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille in January, having loaned him back to his former club after signing him for £10 million during the summer.
