According to reports, Manchester United are ready to sell midfielder Juan Mata for £20 million in January.
The attacking midfielder was bought from Chelsea for a then club record of £37.1 million only at the beginning of the year, but the Red Devils are prepared accept £17.1million less when the transfer market reopens.
Spanish sources reveal manager Louis van Gaal is still unconvinced by Mata’s abilities, despite the Spain international scoring the winner after coming off the bench in United’s win over Crystal Palace in the English Premier League during the weekend.
Juventus and Atletico Madrid are said to be linked with the 26-year-old, with Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri keen on signing a ‘trequartista’ for his formation.
And both sides will be able to pay the £20 million price tag to Man United, where Mata has only managed to complete the full 90 minutes three times so far.
Atletico manager Diego Simeone may have the upper hand of the chase as Mata has expressed his desire to return to his homeland, though his former club Valencia could also be an option for Mata, who has made only nine appearances in all competitions this season so far, scoring three goals, after the Spanish La Liga club received extra cash from new owner Peter Lim.
