Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Valencia in Matchday 13 of the Spanish La Liga, which was won by the Catalan giants by a 94th-minute goal from Sergio Busquets, was a fair result, according to Barca manager Luis Enrique.
After seeing his side’s striker Luis Suarez’s goal incorrectly disallowed in the game, it appeared the two sides were set to enjoy a share of the spoils but Busquets popped up to score deep into second-half stoppage time to steal the win.
And Enrique insists it was a strong performance from his side which was worthy of the three points.
“I think we had a good game overall,” he told reporters.
“We were lacking accuracy on a few occasions, but found the net in the end. Both teams had chances to win.”
“We were fair winners. We had faith until the last second at a very difficult venue.”
“It took us three attempts in the same phase of play to win the match. This result strengthens the team.”
“Of course I’m happy with the team, barring the three points. We played against a very tough opponent, who pressed like very few teams.”
“The feeling is that lady luck falls on your side in the 92nd minute (it was the 94th) after making such a good effort to develop a move from a set piece, but the Virgin Mary didn’t appear.”
“We had to dominate them and control their transitions, but [her services] are much appreciated.”
