Reports suggest Benfica are on the verge of signing Penarol striker Jonathan Rodriguez.
The 21-year-old forward caught the eye of the Portuguese giants with some scintillating performances domestically and he appears set for a move to Estadio da Luz.
Reports also suggest that the Eagles have all but agreed to sign the talented footballer for a fee of €3 million.
Benfica, however, plan to pay special attention to the player’s medical after the striker missed out on a summer switch to Sporting Braga due to certain injury issues.
Jonathan Rodriguez was only handed his senior debut last season, but he has since been in excellent form, scoring 15 goals in 38 league appearances for his current club.
Rodriguez has also played himself into the first team plans of Uruguay boss Oscar Tabarez, making four appearances in international friendlies and scoring his first goal in the 3-0 triumph over Oman.
