According to reports, Manchester United are lining up a bumper world record bid of £120 million in an attempt to sign Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale.
The 25-year-old swapped Tottenham Hotspur for the Spanish La Liga giants in the summer of 2013 when Real paid a then record fee of around £85 million.
The Wales international has so far racked up 66 appearances since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring 33 goals, three of them coming in the final victories of the Spanish Copa del Rey, the UEFA Champions’ League and the FIFA World Club Cup.
However, with the current La Liga table-toppers linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund and Germany forward Marco Reus, his future at the Spanish capital club has become the subject of much speculation, leading the Red Devils to consider a move.
During his time at White Hart Lane, Bale played over 200 times in a six-year spell in North London, scoring 55 goals and was twice named PFA Players’ Player of the Year.
