Chelsea forward Eden Hazard believes his side will win the English Premier League title – but only if they are table-toppers once the festive period is over.
The Blues ensured their place at the top of the tree on Christmas after securing a 2-0 league victory at Stoke City on Monday night in Matchday 17, and now face a challenging festive period with a fixture list including clashes West Ham United, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.
“This is a crucial time of the season. It is not always decisive — but it could well be this year,” Hazard told The Sun.
“If we can stay top until the end of the holidays then it will be all the better for us.”
“Getting through the Christmas period without any mishaps would be good.”
Hazard is a slight doubt for the London derby with the high-flying Hammers after limping off at the Britannia Stadium with an ankle problem.
Chelsea currently sit three points ahead of second-placed City, who have won their last eight in all competitions.
Hazard added: “There are no easy games and you can lose if you’re not fully focused.”
