Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer will be joining Leicester City, away from Stamford Bridge.
Schwarzer, the first Australian international to earn 100 caps for his country, will be moving to the struggling Foxes from the Blues, who are currently joint at the top of the English Premier League with Manchester City.
With first-choice keeper Kasper Scmeichel injured and relatively untested Ben Hamer currently between the sticks at the King Power Stadium, Schwarzer is likely to get straight into Leicester first XI after playing just 12 matches for Mourinho’s side after joining from Fulham in 2013/14, a campaign in which he became the first overseas player to make 500 English top flight appearances.
Chelsea confirmed Schwarzer’s imminent departure on Twitter: “Jose Mourinho thanks Mark Schwarzer who he says is leaving to go to Leicester. He says he is a fantastic professional. #CFC”
