Porto boss Julen Lopetegui insists he has “no interest” in being Real Madrid’s manager.
Current boss Carlo Ancelotti’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu has recently been a subject of speculation, with Madrid trailing to Barcelona at the summit of the Spanish La Liga and facing a fight in pursuit of defending their UEFA Champions League title after a 0-0 draw with city rivals Atletico Madrid in the first-leg of the quarter-final.
Lopetegui, whose side beat a visiting Bayern Munich side 3-1 at the Estadio do Dragao on Wednesday in their Champions League quarter-final, has emerged in the Spanish media as a potential candidate to replace Ancelotti, but the 48-year-old says he is happy at Porto.
“There is no interest in that,” he told a press conference when asked about the Madrid rumours.
“I’m very happy to be coach of FC Porto. I feel very happy to be heading a three-year project. I’m at a great team.”
