Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata feels his side cannot to make any more mistakes if they are to secure a place in the English Premier League’s top four this season.
A 1-0 defeat at Chelsea last weekend was followed by a 3-0 league loss to Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Red Devils seemed to have booked a UEFA Champions League spot with impressive performances over the last month but back-to-back losses have pegged them back.
Spain international Mata stressed that United should aim to win all their remaining four league fixtures this season to guarantee themselves a top four spot.
The former Chelsea playmaker insisted that they are confident of bouncing back in their league meeting with West Bromwich Albion next weekend but admits that they cannot afford to make too many more mistakes in the final stretch of the season in order to qualify for the Champions League.
We are in the final stage of the season and we must try to win each of the remaining games. The goal is to get four wins in the last four games of the Premier League”, he wrote on his blog.
“We need to return all the support we get from our fans [in Goodison Park they were brilliant, once again] and we hope to do it this coming Saturday in Old Trafford against West Brom.
“We all want to be in the Champions League next season and, in order to get there, we must go back to the right path with good performances and good results. We can’t afford another game like this one.”
