Twente vs Heerenveen - The Footballing World

Heerenveen vs Twente – Preview

Heerenveen host Twente at the Abe Lenstra Stadion on Sunday in their Dutch Eredivisie encounter.

WhoScored pundit Mohamed Moallim believes it will be a tight affair, predicting a 2-2 scoreline will be the end result.

He wrote on WhoScored: “FC Twente, after a miserable April, returned to winning ways, albeit against already relegated FC Dordrecht.

“Though the victory has restored some confidence, it won’t be easy against a Heerenveen side looking for their first win in three games.”

In the two sides’ last six meetings Heerenveen have won twice, Twente have won thrice, and there has been one draw.

Their last match against each other was in their first Eredivisie game between them of the 2014/15 season, in where Twente came out victorious by a 2-0 scoreline at De Grolsch Veste.

Heereveen are currently seventh in the Eredivisie with 50 points, while Twente, ten points behind, are in 11th place.

Heereveen’s form in their last six league matches hasn’t been too bad, with two wins, three draws and one loss, the most recent result being a 1-1 draw at Go Ahead Eagles.

On the other hand, Twente have been inconsistent in their previous five Eredivisie fixtures, with two wins and three losses, as well as a recent penalty-kicks loss after their Dutch KNVB Cup tie with PEC Zwolle ended 1-1.

Heereveen will miss Jordy Buijs and Doke Schmidt due to injury for this weekend’s match, as well as key centre-back Joost van Aken due to suspension.

Meanwhile, Twente’s Sonny Stevens, Renato Tapia and Torgeir Boven will be sidelined for their clash with Heereveen due to injury.
