Celtic are reportedly eyeing a summer swoop for Malmo defender Erik Johansson, after having confirmed the signing of Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata, as manager Ronny Deila looks to improve his side’s defence ahead of next season.
Key defender Jason Denayer will return to Manchester City at the end of his loan deal with the Bhoys this summer, while fellow centre-back Virgil van Dijk is said to be a target of several English Premier League clubs.
26-year-old Johansson has been capped by Sweden five times alongside Celtic right-back Mikael Lustig, with a further Scandanavian part of the Celtic Park being Norway international midfielder Stefan Johansen.
Reports suggest that a summer bid for Johansson could be worth £1.15 million, but Johansson was coy about the matter, considering he was still playing on a regular basis for Malmo.
“I don’t have much to say,” he told Fotboll Direkt.
“It’s not something I need to put energy into here and now. I have two matches with Malmo up to the holiday and then it’s international break. That’s where my thoughts are.”
