Arsenal face Inter competition in Melo chase

Arsenal face strong competition from Inter to land Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo this summer, according to reports.

The Brazilian is a long-term target for the Gunners as manager Arsene Wenger sees the former Juventus man as a player who can provide first-team defensive cover next season.

The 31-year-old is is also said to be linked with a £4 million move to the San Siro, having already played in the Italian Serie A with Fiorentina and Juve.

Melo has one year left on his current contract with Galatasaray and this could mean the Gunners will move quickly to persuade him to come to the English Premier League for the first time, after making 34 appearances and scored two goals last term for the Turkish Super Lig champions.
