Real Sociedad and Villarreal are reportedly interested in bringing Aston Villa winger Carles Gil back to the Spanish La Liga, with the 22-year-old making just two appearances for Tim Sherwood’s side this season, in where he scored one goal.
Former Villa manager Paul Lambert paid Valencia £3.25 million for the former Spain Under-21 international and quickly became a fan favourite at Villa Park, scoring a memorable goal in the Villains English FA Cup fourth round win over Bournemouth.
However, Sherwood is said to have deemed Gil “too lightweight” by current boss Sherwood, who has only given the player a few minutes to show what he can do since he replaced Lambert back in February.
Celta Vigo have already submitted a £3 millon bid for Gil, with Real Sociedad also emerging as another club interested in securing the former Elche man’s services, with boss David Moyes understood to be a fan.
Villarreal are also in the chase for Valencia-based Gil, who face losing on-loan winger Denis Cheryshev from Real Madrid this summer.
