Aston Villa defender Matthew Lowton has joined Burnley, becoming the Clarets first signing since their relegation from the English Premier League to the English Championship.
The 26-year-old has left Villa Park for an undisclosed fee after agreeing a three-year deal at Turf Moor, which will help them fill the void for full-back Kieran Trippier, who left for Tottenham Hotspur last week.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche told the club’s official website: “Even back to his days at Sheffield United, I always thought Matt was a very good player and one who I think is motivated to go again.
“He has been at a big club in Aston Villa and wants to get back to the Premier League.
“The challenge for him now is to play regular first-team football and help Burnley to get back there and we look forward to welcoming him into the group.”
