Manchester United defender Phil Jones has signed a new deal with the Red Devils, as the 23-year-old will now remain at Old Trafford until June 2019.
The club announced the deal on their official Twitter page, stating: “We’re pleased to announce @PhilJones4 has signed a new contract, keeping him at #mufc until at least June 2019.”
After signing the new deal, the former Blackburn Rovers man told United’s official website: “I am delighted to have signed a new deal.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far and am looking forward to continuing my development as a player.
“This a great club to be part of and I cannot wait to start the new campaign.
“I would like to thank the manager, coaching staff and fans for their continued support.”
Manager Louis van Gaal has been impressed by the England international’s professionalism since the Dutch boss took the reins at the club in May last year, saying: “We are delighted that Phil has signed a new contract.
“He is a talented footballer with great versatility and can play in a number of positions.
“Phil is a relatively young defender who is developing all the time.
“He missed some of last season due to injury but I was impressed by his professionalism and attitude during those periods.”
