Aston Villa winger Scott Sinclair has hailed the Villians new signing Micah Richards as the “full package”, after the England international – who spent time with Sinclair at Manchester City – moved from the Etihad Stadium to Villa Park on a free transfer.
Sinclair is excited about the arrival of the 27-year-old, who he insists will be a big presence for Villa during the coming years.
“Micah is a great signing,” the 26-year-old told the club’s official website.
“I think it’s great we have added a player like Micah with his experience, talent and personality.
“First and foremost, he’s a very, very good defender. When he’s at his best, he’s top quality. He’s showed that during his time at Man City.
“He has got the full package – everything you need as a defender. He has pace, power and a good reading of the game. He defends so well.
“He’s got that winning mentality too. He’s a leader. He will be a big voice in the dressing room.
“He will put his opinion across to the lads in the dressing room and when he’s out on the pitch he will guide players.
“Off the pitch, Micah is just so bubbly and has such a great spirit. It’s fantastic to have him around the place – and the lads will love having him here.
“I think he’s got his best years ahead of him now. He got into the same situation as me really at City in terms of limited playing time.
“He’s been on loan but now’s the chance for him to settle and make a mark at Villa.
“He knows a few players in the squad already as well as myself, lads like Gabby (Gabriel) Agbonlahor.
“I think he will fit in perfectly. He’ll be constantly laughing and smiling and I think he will get on with everyone very quickly here.”
